Or was it just that you had an irrepressible urge to say this, and damn the consequences?

Suffice to say, you couldn't have proved the point about your not giving a damn about actual facts and just ranking the US "most free" as a gut reflex any better if you'd tried. Isaac goes out of his way to defend you and try and find a way to present your stance as well thought-out despite the appearances, and then you have to go and completely undermine his efforts (despite your subject line). That doesn't seem very appreciative.
