The law suggests that if I fear for my safety, I am justified in attacking first in self-defense Jay Sherman Send a noteboard - 18/07/2013 11:00:58 PM

None of the questions of how they fought were necessarily wrong, but it's a pretty big jump to go from Zimmerman following Martin -- who had every single right to be walking down that street by himself in that situation -- and Martin planning an ambush just because he wants to kick someone's ass and Zimmerman got the punishment. Something had to happen in between, and the most likely scenario is that Martin was either afraid for his personal safety, or Zimmerman laid hands on him first and Martin fought with him to try to get away. Too much of the narrative has focussed on Martin being the aggressor when Martin was not the one stalking Zimmerman, but rather the other way around.

When a case shows glaring holes in the law, it should by nature cause those laws to be reconsidered - 16/07/2013 07:18:57 PM 904 Views
