Not to mention they've gerrymandered like there's no tomorrow.

Not that the Dems are innocent in that particular game, of course. It's times like those that America's federalism can be a curse - it might be rather easier to end that practice once and for all if you could just do it on the federal level.
View original postYou're kidding right? You think this is the swan song for the GOP? We had a shutdown every year from '76 to 90, then a five year gap, then it got shelved for a while because that one wasn't especially effective and we had 2 major wars in full swing. People never give a shit about this stuff a few months later, frankly its just a slow news cycle especially on politics. Eventually a deal will be reached, someone will come out a head though both sides will proclaim victory. Some dems will shout how it was a great triumph for Obama, some will scream that he rolled too easily, some GOP will claim the Republicans taught the libs a lesson, other will bellow Boehner and the RINOs rolled on them.
What do you think about the debt threshold though? Ten days until Default Day, isn't it? That puts rather a strong time limit on this shutdown, because unlike shutdowns (if you believe that), defaults are not exactly something harmless with a long tradition. Do you figure they'll get a deal on that while still letting the shutdown run on?
Government "shutdown" my ass.....
