View original postCheck out this lovely video by the BBC. These are the people who are really in charge of Kiev (because they have guns). While we can debate the extent to which they pose an existential threat to the Russians in Crimea and the Eastern part of the Ukraine, the fact is that Russia lost 20 million people in World War II and many survivors are still alive, and stories like this have been played in Russia and struck a nerve. I don't think Russians have been this angry since World War II with another country.
I don't think they are "really in charge of Kiev". But yeah, of course I understand what the Russophones in Ukraine and the Russians must think of that (if we ignore for a moment Russia's own far-right and ultranationalist elements...).
What do you think of this analysis?
View original postAnd yes, I posted this on Facebook, too.
Have to say that guy acting as a Putin cheerleader in that Facebook update of yours rather confused me with all the LOLs. Does he really support Putin, or is he just that disgusted with Western foreign policy that he has sympathy for any realpolitik-practicing autocrat who ignores the sensitivities of the West, be it Putin or Al-Sisi?

Yes. Dropping "the" is an anti-Russian move. It will always be the Ukraine.

I don't think it's limited to Crimea. They will likely occupy Eastern Ukraine as well.
