Really, really bizarre outcome though, if you've followed the election campaign - pretty strong proof that the UK is far harder to forecast, at least with the current tools available, than American elections.

I'm not unhappy that the Conservatives outperformed expectations so much, but the obliteration of the Lib Dems is not good for the country, nor is the extreme polarization between Scotland (and to a lesser degree Wales) and England.

And first past the post is really an absurd system:

SNP votes per seat: 25 972
Conservative votes per seat: 34 244
Labour votes per seat: 40 290
Lib Dem votes per seat: 301 986
Green votes per seat: 1 157 613
UKIP votes per seat: 3 881 129

I mean, really? That's supposed to be democracy?
