I'm not particularly interested in being stuck in a country filled with rioting, which is what would happen. Nor would DC appreciate being the Prime Minister responsible for an acrimonious break up of the Union (obviously not a big deal in the greater scheme of things, but you know politicians).

Then there's the effect instability would have on the economy. The UK - and Edinburgh in particular - is far too reliant on the financial sector.

If Scotland secedes there's nothing the rest of the UK would do about it. After all, rUK would be fine after a short period of turmoil. Scotland, however, would be ruined. No thank you.
