10% acceptance for Pakistan still sounds high Tom Send a noteboard - 18/11/2015 02:37:29 AM

I also think Afghanistan shouldn't qualify, nor should Iraq outside the ISIS-controlled zone. The criteria need to be stringent enough to discourage people. We had a similar issue with all the unaccompanied minors from Central America, and it was only when we started sending people back in large numbers and advertising in those countries to make it clear it wasn't worth the horrific risk to life and limb that people stopped.

And, although Germany may have a slight dearth of workers, the rest of the EU is swimming in unemployment (as you point out). Sweden has a housing crisis on top of that. Your point about education is really a red herring, though. As I said somewhere else, two thirds of the taxi drivers in New York claim to have an engineering degree from some dubious educational institution in the Middle East, Pakistan or India. I doubt Germany needs a ton of fifth-rate engineers who can't speak German worth shit. They'll end up as part of a dead-end underclass. They've already brought enough crime in with them; if they stay they will settle in ghettos of Arabic speakers and live on the fringes. Say that kicking them out helps ISIS all you want, but leaving them will help ISIS even more.

Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.
