...and it's got nothing to do with the fact that we don't, as a general rule, do referendums in this country. I mean seriously, how often does the general public get a vote on specific issues? Pretty much never. This is no different than any other 'controversial' issue that the current government (be they Labour, Tory or Monster Raving Loony Party) takes a decision on without asking all 2.3% of people who can be arsed to actually vote what their uninformed opinion is. Christ, the idea of government decisions being ratified/thrown out by a bunch of daily mail reading twats is a terrifying thought. So stop trying to make out like this is somehow a special case.
