Might help. And I'm pretty sure google will tell you where the LGBT community in your town hangs out - there'll probably be something at your college, some listings in appropriate magazines.

Lots of people go to bars alone for no other reason than to sit at the bar by themselves. It's not weird. But there's really no reason not to bring a straight guy to a gay bar, unless this guy's a homophobe.
