Granted, fewer people would know the context, but the argument would be much stronger.
He deliberately ignores that deliberate parallel to also avoid explaining why Vespasian and Titus were heroes and the Fall of Jerusalem, destruction of the Second Temple and Diaspora were good things. Vespasian and Titus do have charisma Palpatine and Anakin lack, however, and Sir Alec Guinness switching sides at the end of A New Hope would've hurt ticket sales.
