I know it's a play rather than a book, but still it's the one I would chose.

I think it would be quite delightful playing the part of a wastrel named Ernest in a decadent late Victorian London, skipping out on boring commitments and obligations to go visit poor Bunbury in the country.

As for stuff I would avoid, anything without proper sanitation, ick xx(

Heh, unless you offed Ernest, you'd have to play a wastrel friend to a guy named Ernest.:D My question means you get to visit an already existing set of characters, not replace them.
