Political asylum is something else, but that's what's so infuriating about the matter - that these people abuse what is effectively a fast-track to a US residence permit intended for people in danger of persecution, while millions of people who are much worse off and have much better reasons to want to move to the US can't, or have to wait years or decades - or they do it illegally and get stuck in a situation that really isn't enviable, whatever Aemon seems to think.
