Pretty much there was some political firings of US Attorneys, done by one of Alberto Gonzales aids, he actually push for her to do the firing. Congress found about it and did congressional hearings. Alberto Gonzales even though had weeks to prepare spent the entire 4 hour hearing said he didn't recall anything about the events event though his emails showed he was intimately involved in the political firings.

Alberto Gonzales also outright lied concerning NSA Domestic eavesdropping program, James B. Comey (deputy attorney general during the 1st bush term), and the night Ashcroft (the 1st attorney general) was in hospital, Comey was acting AG and Gonzales tried to go to the drugged out Ashcroft to overrule Comey even though Ashcroft was recovering from surgery. Ashcroft wasn't very happy about this, but Gonzales and Card tried...
