With that I'm inclined to agree, on all counts. Joel Send a noteboard - 29/03/2010 12:50:40 PM
People are entitled to oppose abortion as they are fur, but very few abortion providers or clothing retailers will let staff do it on their nickel for long. Hence I don't think your analogy to "the other side" really fits, and that's all I was saying. Indeed, I'm inclined to say Aisha should, since the exchange occurred in the context of the business, acquaint the employer with its nature. If someone who performs a given procedure (whatever it is) is OK with staff giving customers crap for receiving it, that's their business, but I rather doubt s/he is. Health nuts are allowed to look down on people who eat fast food, but if they do it while delivering pizzas they'll probably be looking for work soon. Indeed, I'm inclined to agree with Aishas initial response: Why would you participate in a practice you find abhorrent? And if you think it so morally dubious, does assisting in it while sneering at those receiving your aid let you off the hook? It's the flip side of the pharmacists who want to pick and choose which prescriptions they fill, but at least they can stand on "we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone. " This is more like a hooker making fun of her johns (but still accepting their money, of course. ;))
