"The drama, which was first broadcast on Turkey’s state television last October.... " Joel Send a noteboard - 07/04/2010 12:46:35 AM
Their Government should limit their freedom of speech, gosh darn itO^

Sorry but your position smacks more of an anti-Turk prejudice than a realistic evaluation - they have let a privately owned TV station put out what it wants... and you attack that?

No, they've let a privately owned TV station rebroadcast something the government initially aired, unless there's a different meaning of "state television" than I've previously encountered. That makes the government culpable. Although the Turkish government has demonstrated willingness, nay, EAGERNESS to limit freedom of speech when it suits their interests, so if they're willing to ban mentions of ACTUAL rape and murder I don't see why they're less willing to prohibit depictions of FICTIONAL rape and murder. Apart from having produced those depictions in the first place, of course. ;)
