I'm not sure that this program, based on what I've seen said of it, qualifies as a blood libel either.

I believe several good sized pogroms were instigated by such tales.
It's very easy to say 'no censorship' when you aren't the butt of the joke.


I also think it is a very difficult position to attack Turkey for not showing enough respect for freedom of speech while demanding it censors fictional programmes, yet some here have no problem doing that.
As for the programme, it is clearly offensive but I'm not a fan of censoring a fictional TV series. Those kind of things tend to be counter productive, to the sorts of paranoid minds who mistake them for reality they just prove it is true.


I guess the alarm around this particular issue stems from a disregard for the intelligence of the average Turkish viewer.
