I think a more accurate analogy would be you expecting that the camping trip last for a day, but a friend wants it to be two and doesn't tell you until you get there. Of course, in the real world you might have some difficulty since your friends would need you to get back, but that's not a problem vidja gaemz have.

I guess my question is why anyone would trap themselves into having social obligations attached to their entertainment. When my friends and I play Starcraft, we have the understanding that any one of us may need to leave at any time for any reason. Now, you may say "but raids take a long time," to which I will respond "then raids are stupid." :P
