Ignoring the analogy, then, what I'm basically trying to say is that when you tell your friends you'll do something, you have a social obligation to stick it out for their sakes. Even if it doesn't go exactly as you thought it would. You can certainly break that obligation for more important matters, but most people wouldn't do so just because they "didn't feel like playing anymore," and that's why I was saying that LL felt like she had to stay. Your friends want to have fun and you told them you'd help, so you don't bail on them just to make yourself happier. That's how decent people operate.
As far as why anyone would "trap" themselves with social obligations for the sake of entertainment. . .well, why not? Entertainment is important to people. It's not trivial just because it's "for fun." The average person puts a lot of time and effort into entertainment.

I could see people not knowing Black Temple fights. That instance is from the old level cap.

Well, you didn't specify meaningful. Even so, I don't understand the antagonism.

Dude. I've been "trapped by social obligations" for a text-based game.

And yet they do. In fact, end-game in MMOs are built on them, and would not function otherwise *NM*
