You have a couple of points in there:
First, I'm not saying that "novelists" and "game writers" have equal skill; I'm saying that they have different skills, and one does not translate to the other. Which was what the meat of my post talked about.
Second, I am saying that a critically successful plot for a novel is not going to translate to a good plot for a video game. They're judged by different standards, require different things. I'll go out on a limb now and say that the vast, vast majority of fantastic book plots would not translate to fantastic game plots. So no: a critically acclaimed novel's story will likely not translate into a great game plot.
