I might hit up Torchlight 2 at some point. The lower price and the mods are appealing. However, the original Torchlight didn't quite scratch my itch. It started out fun, but the game wore on me the longer I played it. The environments just felt too similar, the atmosphere wasn't quite right, and the loot drops didn't tickle my addiction bone. It didn't give me the same level of enjoyment that Diablo II did (and sometimes still does, even though it's very old now).
Diablo III looks fantastic, and is digging its claws already into those parts of my brain that were colonized by the second franchise entry. I hope it lives up to my expectations. We'll be buying two copies in our household so that my fiance and I can co-op (she loved D2 and Torchlight as well), and I'm looking to do some co-op with another friend of mine, plus I'll dig into it single player. So I don't really care about the always-online stipulation. If the internet somehow goes out without the power being off and I want to use that exact time for some D3, then I'm sure I'll feel disappointed, but I don't really see it affecting me that much personally. And for something like the real money auction house, I can see the need for it. Duping would destroy such a system. Perhaps Blizzard could catch such people if they employed enough virtual police officers, but I'm sure they want to try to avoid the issue altogether.

I've been following Diablo III, but I've never heard of Torchlight.

Torchlight is a cheap, extremely undemanding (in terms of requirements), steampunk Diablo clone.

Agreed. Diablo (and Torchlight) is the very definition of a repetitive grindfest.

Yeah, the TW series is pretty weak grand strategy. Paradox does it best. *NM*

I dislike this "always-online" requirement, and I don't think I'll ever buy a game that demands it. *NM*
