For one thing, relative to games like Axis and Allies, it isn't long. For another, it really encourages the free-for-all mentality, concentrating on only one adversary is nearly guaranteed to cause defeat. Finally, it has very little randomness, which encourages strategy and removes those irritating moments where you lose because the dice fell unfavourably.
The first rule of being a ninja is "do no harm". Unless you intend to do harm, then do lots of harm.
