I started out just giving general flirtatious answers to all the womenfolk, and decided I liked Kelly's attitude the best. When I'd done everything and was about to go to the final battle, Miranda was the only one who had offered, so I went with her. I figured I'd done something wrong with the other two. As it turns out, the other three (I'm not including Samara, because I didn't really care about her) don't actually go right out and tell you to dump the other girls.
They just come to you before the final battle if you haven't been a player.
So yeah, I went with Miranda right before the battle. After the final battle (continuing on with my game) I broke up with Miranda (who takes it surprisingly well) and chatted with Kelly, who promptly sent me an email wanting to come up to my room. Heh. So that was fun. Wish she was a full romance, though. After her, I chatted with Tali (who I recruited last, and thus hadn't romanced before, meaning I hadn't had to break up with her to get Miranda), did one sidequest to progress her lines, and shagged her too. Good times.
After that I had to load a save a few hours back (before I'd broken up with Jack, who doesn't take it particularly well), and played an hour or two to get back to the final battle. Jack showed up, I saw the end of her romance, aaaaand that made four. Success.
My opinion of the women:
- Kelly was my favorite as far as dialog. She was fun, flirty, fling material.
- Miranda was my favorite of the "real" romances. I didn't particularly like her personality during the regular game, but her romance lines were great, I thought. She seemed like a kindred spirit to Shep. Duty bound, somewhat fatalistic, and almost depressed at times, she seemed like a partner. Almost like we were the two adults on the mission, taking care of the other kids. Then the whole whispering in your ear and winking in the elevator before the final scene was awesome.
- I think I'm going to pick Jack for number two. I liked her transformation, and thought the final scene with her was somewhat touching.
- Tali was very close. I might have picked her for number two if I'd recruited her earlier. I think the reason I didn't is that her romance seemed very "rushed." I hadn't talked to her much prior to the final battle, and afterward, two conversations was enough to end the romance. I'm not sure if it's naturally shorter than the others, or if pursuing romance after the game is faster. In any case, I thought her final scene was cool too. Very virginal. Assuming her jumping of Shep was out of excitement, and not a desire to finish quickly and get back into her suit.
Here's to hoping we get to see her face in the final Mass Effect installment.
Anyway. I liked the romances, over all.
