Well I read that Mistborn trilogy. (no spoilers if you haven't read it) Aviendha Send a noteboard - 08/05/2017 04:56:59 PM

And it was all right.

Had a little trouble picturing the world in my mind because the description felt basic. The first book had a suitably surprising turn.

The second, and third book relied too heavily on the prelude bits to each chapter to further the plot, and those bits answered questions you'd be an idiot not to have worked out yourself.

And WHY GOD WHY does every trilogy I read have to go over the same damned stuff, reminding you of what's just happened in the world or, in this case, what Allomancy is and how it works. Robin Hobb does it too; she spends way too much time going over major stuff you haven't forgotten.

But, all told, I can't say I didn't enjoy it. So, I downloaded The Alloy of Law, and read the first couple of chapters. What the hell? Is this a Western?!

We don't even have a smiley for that

I know I had initially wanted to discuss the books section by section, but I was just too lazy to start it up. I'm not nearly as good as other as analysing books and working out why it's great or terrible.

So instead, you get my general thoughts and complaints
