Star Trek: DS9, Episode: Hard Time [Season 4,18 ] MrFarstrider Send a noteboard - 13/05/2017 06:53:36 AM

About 2-3 weeks ago I found myself with a lot of extra time on my hands so I started binge watching Star Trek Deep Space Nine at the recommendation of quite a few people. I had watched TNG growing up but unfortunately never really got into DS9 or Voyager.

So this particular episode, Hard Time, is probably one of the best pieces of writing I've seen in the series and tackles a number of real-world issues like suicide, solitary confinement, mental health problems with work and familial relationships, etc. Its a really dark episode and I think its particularly hard hitting because the main actor is the relatable Chief Miles O'Brien (Colm Meaney).

If you have Netflix and don't follow the show much, I would recommend this episode just because its so well written and honest about these serious challenges people go through on a daily basis.
