Though you can make the argument that if you do not use the male or female halves of the one power and instead use the True Power directly from the Dark One you can travel in the way that is more similar to Nightcrawler and that is what you see when the Forsake travel in the first 3 books or so you are really seeing one of the firsts uses of the True Power traveling and not the One Power traveling.
Wow... I never really realized how bloody MASSIVE the Traveling retcon was.

Basically in the first 3 books Traveling worked completely differently then it did from the 4th on.
