Still haven't seen it, feel free to spoil me anyway Honestly I do not mind, I doubt any spoilers would be true genuine surprises that shake me to my core.

View original post1) This was a top-notch Spiderman movie, and a very good superhero movie. If you like superhero movies, this one will not disappoint. But that's a gimme, I guess. The villain is sympathetic and complex, and well-played by Michael Keeton, who can simply drip menace when he wants to. DC should find a way to get him into the bat suit for a shot-for-shot adaptation of The Dark Knight (Not the movie, which was great, but the comic. He's the perfect age to play that batman now.) Maybe they'll let him age a few years and play Bruce in a Batman: Beyond movie.

Let me guess, Michael Keeton who is famous for playing Batman, in this movie is going to play the character of Joe Chill (the person who killed Batman's parents in the comics...and no Joe Chill is not the Joker, stupid 1989 move even though most of the 1989 movie is great in its own way).

Joe Chill is an archetypal forgotten man of the Gotham world, he is working class, broken, beaten, and bitter. Oh lets make Joe Chill the archetype be a parent who can't provide for the next generation.

So is Michael Keeton playing that type of a character in Spiderman Homecoming. If so the circle of the wheel of time continues. One of the most famous superhero movies is now about to reborn a new hero via providing a sympathetic villain, but a villain that while sympathetic must be stop.

2) Tony Stark is a rich guy with no super powers. Unless his super power is to create super villains. His actions or inactions have led to the creation now of:

Iron Monger (Iron Man I)
Whiplash and his drones (Iron Man II - Maybe blame Tony's dad for this one?)
Aldrich Killian/Fake Mandarin (Iron Man III)
Ultron (Avengers II)
Vulture & Shocker (Spiderman: Homecoming)
Spoiler character who will be obvious after you watch this movie (The next Spiderman movie)

No wonder the guy is wracked with guilt. What's funny is that this was an issue for comic book Tony Stark, too. His technology was stolen and used to power a lot of villains and he eventually went on a rampage to put an end to it.

Archetypal Stark is the person who solves a problem and creates dozens of other problems for he was so hyperfocused on finding a solution he does not think through the consequences of his actions before he does the thing.

Archetypally Stark is a hero, but he would be an even better hero if he lets other people into his lives and he listens to them from time to time. People that provide the hindsight that Stark lacks. Stark is supposed to represent Prometheus, and Prometheus has a twin brother that is just as self destructive as Prometheus. Prometheus' name means foresight, his twin brother Epimetheus name means hindsight. Epimetheus and Prometheus created the modern version of man (after the god's wiped out the old version of man) and together both of them screw it up. Thus Prometheus steals fires from the gods to give man a fighting chance to correct his flaws. Epimetheus husband of Pandora of Pandora box is all about hindsight and he accepts the gifts of Zeus even though Zeus has never screwed him, and his brother Prometheus told him not to trust Zeus for Zeus can be quite a bastard, yet Epimetheus does so anyway.

What I am saying with this last paragraph is that humans work better when we can incorporate some of our opposite into ourselves either directly via assimilation or via cooperation and coordination where these two brothers work together as a team.

Part of always needing a superhero story is that Stark will always screw up, and create a new story, a new villian, in order to only have an antagonist he is personally connected to in order to overcome him in the end. So yeah Stark will always screw up, just like Gotham will always be a shitty place no matter what Wayne or Batman does, for comics, movies, etc need to be sold.
