If I wasn't on the coast I wouldn't have left either. Evacuating isn't risk free and tends to be a major pain in the ass. In Houston more people dies evacuating from Rita, which missed them, than dies in flooding of Harvey. If you are in danger of storm surge you need to get out but unless you live in sub standard housing the wind isn't worth running from.
