And honestly, I really don't how how I feel about it. I knew going in from the reviews (some of which are rather negative, at least around here) that it would be way over the top, though that's even putting it mildly. I still haven't gotten around to seeing Black Swan, so I think the only other Aronofsky movie I've seen is Requiem for a Dream, which is obviously also rather weird, but that's normal enough considering the drugs theme. In this one... yeah, I don't know. I generally like symbolism in movies or books to be relatively straightforward, with a discernible purpose or message. If this movie had one such, beyond the rather banal 'writers are egomaniacs who will always choose their fans over their family', I've no idea what it was.
One quibble with your summary that seems rather important though - the woman waking up at the very end clearly isn't Lawrence. Considering how Bardem describes how he got the piece of glass earlier in the movie, that seems to suggest that he goes through cycles like this, but each time with another woman, so not actually time repeating itself.
But I certainly didn't hate the movie. In a way it was pretty good, if I try to take it for what it is and give up on trying to understand it.
