I thought was a pretty good movie. Yes, the lesbian sex was jarringly out of place. Instead, I thought that the mental health aspect was just so interesting. It very nicely displayed how a person can actually be suffering greatly from mental health issues, but everyone around them played along for their own purposes and motivations (her mother wanted her to succeed, the director wanted her talent and body, she so desperately wanted approval and love, etc)
It makes one wonder how many instances in real life we let people suffer with their mental health issues, because we either are too uncomfortable confronting them about it, or their suffering brings us gain.
