View original postGun control opponents will point to the conclusions in studies like this one to justify their viewpoint that the types of gun deaths most impacted are not the ones that provoke the discussion.
Of course they will. It's the inherent issue with sharing information, isn't it?

View original postWhat I mean by that is that is the conclusions that reductions are seen in intimate partner firearm homicides, accidental deaths involving children and other household members, and gun suicides. I'm not suggesting these are not positive goals. But they aren't what most people worry about. The average person who wants gun control laws passed isn't focused on being shot by their significant other. They are worried about mass shootings, terrorist attacks, and gang violence. Most of which involve illegally obtained firearms.
Well, that's what we are led to believe, anyway. There are probably many people who've had personal experiences they don't necessarily want to discuss that might affect their opinion. But you have a valid point, so I'm not arguing.
View original postThat said, like I have stated here and on Facebook, I have no problem with the Federal law prohibiting private ownership of fully automatic weapons being expanded to include bump stocks and high capacity magazines.
I agree. If the argument can be made that something is purely meant to shoot as many bullets as possible, as quickly as possible, I can't get behind it as an extension of the right to bear arms. I hesitate to say that, because if one believes he/she must have weapons to challenge the govt, one would likely disagree with me. But I'm choosing to draw a line, based on what we ACTUALLY use guns for.
