As I knew nothing of him.
He sold more records during his era than anyone but Elvis.
I know plenty about the classical music of the 18th and 19th and early 20th centuries. And then there is essentially a gap between that period and the pop/rock of the 1960s. And from there I know plenty about Disco of the 70s and Synth/New Wave/Pop/Dance/Techno/Trance/Top 40 Rock of the 80s - Present.
