Like Cannoli, the facts chosen to support the point were all things I already knew and didn't find at all challenging to any of my core beliefs. Like Greg, I thought the writer beat it to death.
As to the central idea that perceived attack on a core belief could trigger the fight of flight response, sure, why not? I would speculate that in today's world the breakdowns of reactions to that response in a physical sense are likely something like this: <1% fight, <1% flight, the remainder false alarm.
