I posted the Oatmeal piece for I heard about it yesterday and it is a really good demonstration of The Backfire effect for people who have never heard of it.
But that's an impossibly small subset of interested parties. You're aiming for people who could possibly care, but have not done any research or introspection on such matters. Seriously, ANY, because this concept is beyond obivous. I think Cracked.com has done pieces on it.
It is not the best "beginner piece" for people who want some academic / technical stuff behind it,
People smart enough to care, you mean. That whole stupid cartoon describes a very obvious psychological phenomenon. That people in the field are patting themselves on the back for giving it a name speaks more to the alternative meaning of the term "academic" than any possibility of interest at the "condescending sappy cartoon" readership level.
but I am probably not the best person to find such a thing for I know way too much about this stuff for it is a former field of study.
Humble-bragging? Where?

Alfalfa males do not eat kale for eating kale makes you a kale male, which is just a fancy word
