That other way is a silly spelling that was invented to try to erase the historical fact of British rule, which makes the subsequent independent misrule look good.

Mysuru is how the locals pronounce it as the ooru suffix means city or town. Since I work with several local residents remotely, I have started using their pronunciation. Plus I like it better. Mysore sounds ugly. Like the result of a persistent STI.
