Nobody whines about the idiocy of building major metropolitan centers on top of fault lines, or in the path of blizzards, or tornadoes, or floodplains--but God help you if you rebuild within 30 miles of the shore.

1) 'Out of the path of blizzards' simply eliminates a huge percentage of the Earth's buildable surface, and blizzards don't do the kind of damage that hurricanes do.

2) 'Out of the path of tornadoes' removes an even larger percentage of the Earth's buildable surface, and tornadoes do damage in a much less widespread area.

3) People point out the idiocy of rebuilding in floodplains all the time.

Hollywood has the best moral compass, because it has compassion.
