That means we need to abandon places where millions of people live. Just in the US. Ghavrel Send a noteboard - 28/10/2019 02:24:36 AM

Let's ignore reality and assume global warming doesn't exist and everything will stay about the same as it is now.

We're going to need to abandon:
1) Most of California (earthquakes, fires)
2) All of the Gulf Coast (hurricanes)
3) A substantial part of the Atlantic Coast (hurricanes. see Sandy)
4) All of Puerto Rico (hurricanes)
5) All of the cities along the Lower Mississippi (flooding. there's going to be a levee breach sooner or later).

So we're down, at a minimum, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Houston, New Orleans, Puerto Rico, Mobile, Pensacola, Miami, Savannah, Charleston, Wilmington, and, apparently, Augusta, Kansas.

"We feel safe when we read what we recognise, what does not challenge our way of thinking.... a steady acceptance of pre-arranged patterns leads to the inability to question what we are told."

Have y'all seen this? Qatar is air conditioning their open-air markets and stadiums. - 19/10/2019 06:06:47 AM 731 Views
This is nothing new. Qatar has had indoor ski slopes for years. *NM* - 19/10/2019 11:32:07 PM 180 Views
cold air remains low to the ground or something? *NM* - 19/10/2019 11:32:28 PM 183 Views
Right, but... surely an enclosed stadium would be more efficient. *NM* - 21/10/2019 10:49:37 PM 173 Views
Well, the city was built... - 20/10/2019 09:48:37 PM 412 Views

Speculating here, but... - 23/10/2019 09:45:23 PM 372 Views
Why is it always the Gulf Coast that gets complained about when we rebuild? - 23/10/2019 07:50:35 AM 379 Views
huh? - 23/10/2019 12:37:50 PM 357 Views
Re: huh? - 23/10/2019 08:52:29 PM 364 Views
That may simply be because earthquakes are less frequent than hurricanes, especially now *NM* - 23/10/2019 09:46:47 PM 175 Views
They're less frequent, but we know where they're going to happen. - 24/10/2019 04:42:15 AM 372 Views

I think there's an argument to be made - 24/10/2019 05:50:26 PM 343 Views

to my point, however.... - 23/10/2019 10:27:04 PM 376 Views
I don't really know how that's relevant though. I'm not talking about insurance. - 24/10/2019 04:40:58 AM 366 Views
I guess my point - 24/10/2019 02:03:08 PM 443 Views
