That seems like a pretty extreme parallel, but sure, I guess?

The mind never wanted to admit it was running from something, so she would soon convince herself that she really wanted to obey, that she really wanted nothing more than to please the Maidens" You would think I would remember a passage I keep thinking of as an important thematic illustration of perspective in WoT.
When you start thinking about it, WoT does have a remarkable number of such scenes about people being 'broken' under torture, being Compelled, and so on. Obviously the phenomenon I'm talking about here isn't quite that, although being forced to listen to Trump for extended periods of time probably should in fact qualify as torture...
But yeah, the mind doesn't want to keep having to face the same unpleasant thoughts of 'this guy I'm supporting really sucks', so it finds ways to reconcile itself to that choice and hide the most unpalatable truths.
The show "Billions" has me thinking that our society's divisions are irreparable.

I am sick to death of movies and TV shows that are allegories on the evils of capitalism.

I think your society's divisions are irreparable, too, and it's pretty freaking scary.
