I highly doubt I'll be in love with every decision they make to adapt this to screen, but there's no choice but to cut and change things. Knowing the show runner really knows the books and is clearly passionate about the details is great.
Some of that comes through in the trailer. The knife stabbing at Logain has the Silver Stars of Ghealdan. A small thing, barely noticable, which makes it all the more impressive they bothered.

Having Logain early is a great choice to visually contrast against Moraine's use of the OP, and it also world builds. I wish they could play up the possibility of Logain being the true Dragon Reborn. In the book Moiraine doesn't say directly that one of them is to confront the DO. She words it more like "he considers you three important enough to risk sending his forces into the open." I guess for a restless TV audience the stakes have to be more spelled out.
