Rafe Judkins did a breakdown of the trailer, and he acknowledged that this is a deviation from the book Lan, but that they wanted to show that an Aes Sedai and Warder not only feel each other's physical pain, but emotional pain as well. Still not sure what causes such a dramatic outburst from Lan of all people, though.

Yeah I saw that Judkins breakdown. And I don't agree with the choice. There are plenty of Aes Sedai and Warders in the books. Even if there aren't many in tEotW, the show is putting a lot of effort into showcasing them in added scenes, and they could exposit the emotional ties of the Warder bond there without compromising Lan's stoic nature.

We don't know that she's actually Aes Sedai, or if maybe they kidnapped her and took her to an abandoned shedding or something.
Either way, this isn't canon, but it's a good change for the show to make Whitecloaks more than a mere annoyance for Aes Sedai. Though hopefully they don't show the Whitecloaks being too successful. At that point, it becomes hard to believe the Aes Sedai let them survive and thrive for a thousand years.

It's pretty clear that she is an Aes Sedai. First, she's color-coded as Yellow Ajah. Second, the scene is nested in the Whitecloak scenes, among which shows a Whitecloak with a belt of Aes Sedai ring "trophies," as well as the mourning Lan and teary-eyed Moiraine. True, these could be unconnected, since this is a trailer. But I would put money on these scenes being related.

I'm not against the idea of this. But one of the reasons the Whitecloaks are little more than an annoyance in the books is because they are more or less impotent against a channeler's powers. Coupled with the political influence of Tar Valon, burning Aes Sedai at the stake wouldn't really be a thing. And certainly not enough to fill the Whitecloak's trophy belt shown in the trailer.

This has as much chance of happening as Game of Thrones becoming the Ned Stark show, I think.

Agreed. The first season will very likely be the Moiraine show. But if there's traction and the show progresses, it will probably shift. It has to.
