I was a feral, unsupervised, reader until my mom decided Piers Anthony was the reason my sister was trying to kill herself. Even then I just had to avoid that author and she was sanguine.

I was also the fifth of six kids to a single mom. My older sibs were all readers so I picked up their habits early.
