The same week you make it possible for me to get a permit to carry a gun without needing to submit a justification for it, you also make it possible to outlaw infanticide, so the people I would most need a gun to protect no longer need it!
As for the other side of the political spectrum, they don't need it either, since for some insane reason, our insanely libertarian state of New Jersey, in defiance of all the rhetoric about protecting women, does not place a single restriction on buying or carrying coat hangers.
