Was executing a search warrant on the Mar-A-Lago home of former President Trump the last puzzle piece in what will prove to be a successful federal prosecution? One would assume the AG and a federal judge would not approve such an action unless there was something very specific they expected to find.
Or was it a fishing expedition that has already accelerated Trump fund raising and will propel him to easily capturing the Republican nomination for 2024?
Time will tell. The AG, as is the custom, refuses to comment on any ongoing investigation. If evidence was discovered that leads to federal indictments, it would be historic. But if nothing concrete results from this search, it may go down as one of the great political blunders in history.
We are close and not close to the situation so we are just playing parlor games. We play parlor games for this is important and we want to establish a sense of control and agency, for we are not close yet we know soon this stuff is going to impact us months or years down the line.
