In short, I think Star Wars is dead. Time for Kathleen Kennedy to kill another franchise.
You make her sound like a slacker who needs to get back to work now that she's done with this franchise, but she's also killed Indiana Jones AND Willow. Not a bad track record for less than a decade (are we sure she doesn't also work for the comic book movie people? ).
Indiana Jones was never a good franchise* she didn't kill it, she desecrated its corpse.
Willow was never a franchise at all, and history is littered with 'relatively good movie is turned into awful TV show'.
That said, I'm not sticking up for her generally. Whatever her eventual fate is, I hope it's something that entertainment executives use to frighten their children for the next thousand years.
*Watch Raiders with the critical eye you've given to other stuff you've recapped and you will see it's a ridiculous movie, and it's in the top two of the series. Temple of Doom and Crystal skull are much, much worse.
