Willow was never a franchise at all, and history is littered with 'relatively good movie is turned into awful TV show'.
Willow actually had a series of sequel novels, which were written by Lucas and Chris Claremont, who apparently made the Xmen relevant. They saw Willow's whole family and Alora's foster family all get nuked, so he became a grim badass who calls himself Thorn Drumheller.
*Watch Raiders with the critical eye you've given to other stuff you've recapped and you will see it's a ridiculous movie, and it's in the top two of the series. Temple of Doom and Crystal skull are much, much worse.
I have, in fact, pointed out elsewhere on this site how silly it is when you take a step back. The whole scene that ends up with Marian's supposed death and Indy gunning down the swordsman should have been scored to Yakety Sax.

Were they in that long book series where Luke & his son team up w/ the Sith to fight a Force god?
