I think A GRIEF OBSERVED is one of the best examinations of bereavement ever penned.
Anyway, while we're on the topic of Lucifer, he's depicted somewhat sympathetically in THE SANDMAN, gets his own spinoff where he's the eponymous protagonist in LUCIFER, and recently is depicted in a television adaptation of the same.
