I was a few years back, but I've more or less lost track of the Devils. Last time I watched a Nets game, Jason Kidd was still playing. The 50% referred to the Yankees and the Ice Yankees Rangers. I don't have much of a problem with the Islanders, Knicks, Mets or Jets. Unless someone I dislike is being smug about their relative success. It suddenly occurs to me that while we had to stop the "19! 40!" chants when I was in high school, it's now been longer since the Jets won a Super Bowl. The Rangers were out of it for 54 years, and it's now been 55 for the Jets. Something to think about next time a group of semi-literate troglodytes starts chanting "J-E-T-S" at a TV. And the Islanders are catching up, come to think of it. It's been 41 years since the end of the Bossy dynasty, and the 1940 stuff was going on well before that point in the Rangers' drought. Or did they just start it when the Islanders got their first?
Anyway, one of the hilarious aspects of being a bicoastal fan is that things that don't seem like much of a trend to others stick out to me. Like, for instance, in 2008, when the Giants, Dodgers and Devils were eliminated in the playoffs by the Eagles, Phillies and Flyers, respectively.
