I'm concerned about a lot of things. Ghavrel Send a noteboard - 09/07/2024 04:41:03 AM

But illegal immigration and especially media coverage of the presidency are way, way down on the list. Trump's enabled a wave of hard-right Christian authoritarianism throughout the country, and boatloads of his old advisors are connected to Project 2025.

I'm much more worried about a government that's going to reverse all our gains on climate change, undo protections for gay and trans people, knock massive holes in the separation of church and state, destroy our national parks, cut medicare, try to end the ACA, end birthright citizenship, attack ethnic minorities...

To the the extent that I'm worried about the media, I think 24/7 news was a mistake in general, and I think getting rid of the cable news networks (admittedly impossible) would make things a lot better.

"We feel safe when we read what we recognise, what does not challenge our way of thinking.... a steady acceptance of pre-arranged patterns leads to the inability to question what we are told."
