Judging by the nature of the opening flavor text, and the nature of Mafia, I think it's pretty unlikely we're gods.
In any case, I'm not.
I'm not either.
I was trying to think of a way to turn that into a question, maybe trap someone into saying they're a god. Couldn't think of a way to phrase it unobtrusively, though...
So, I've been thinking about what I think is a core question of the game: What would constitute scum?
Here's the flavor text:
Thirteen legends. Thirteen heroes. Thirteen people, factual and fictional, brought to Olympus to aid the gods.
You all turn and see a lion sitting on a marble throne. The lion opens it mouths, and speaks to you all.
"Greetings. It is I, Great Zeus. You all have been brought in from your various tales, legends, and deeds to help us. Some amongst you have thought of turning against the gods, and fighting for evil. We would find out for ourselves, but most of Olympus is busy bickering over a naval battle. So you must debate amongst yourselves and discover who among who has betrayed us.
Now, I am going to go turn into a swan and have sex with mortals."
And with that, he disappeared. It seems it is up to you.
So.
1. We are all from stories, very likely Greek myth (thought not necessarily. In my Marvel Comics game, I imported a DC character. I could easily see Kronin importing a Roman mythic figure, or someone from an Eastern religion or something. Possibly a Jewish figure (Christianity and Islam aren't around yet, so...)
I would bet we're probably all Greek figures, but I think the line between Greek and Roman myth is pretty fluid, so I wouldn't be surprised if some Romans showed up. Other than that though, I am not sure if there's any way to really tell at this point and whether it would even be worth it.
2. It's around the time of the Trojan War. Odysseys is pretty much a given to be in here, because he's so awesome.
The actual game time might be during the Trojan War based on the "bickering over a naval battle" line (though I seem to recall it being more a siege than a naval battle, but whatevs), but my character at least is not contemporary with the Trojan War. I would be a lot of us probably aren't, given we "have been brought in from your various tales, legends, and deeds to help us." I bet there's probably a wide variety of characters.
3. "Some amongst you have thought of turning against the gods, and fighting for evil." That's a big one. Does it mean that some heroes that we would recognize, such as Heracles (Hercules? I forget which is Greek), or Perseus (the guy that killed Medusa) are now evil? Or does it mean that there are pre-existing opponents of the Gods, like Titans, or... I don't know, various monsters, are here?
Basically, if someone is confirmed to be Hercules, does that mean they are confirmed to be "good?" Impossible to tell, for now.
Yeah, impossible to tell, I think. It could really go either way, especially with the moral flexibility inherent to Greek Myth. Is Heracles a hero or a villian? He only did all those labors because he killed his wife and children ...
Honestly, I think the "worst" thing someone can do in Greek myth is disrespect the gods or set yourself on level with them. Thus Arachne's punishment, as was mentioned earlier. So perhaps we should be looking for blasphemers filled with hubris?

Is anyone here someone we would consider to be a "good" monster? Dunno if that's something you'd want to share, but it would definitely shed some light on the situation.
I'm not really sure what you're asking here. Like, if someone's the Minotaur but also a vanilla townie?
Insert theme music here.
