It is not. For starters, the scum were explicitly villains, Iron Man, Spider-Man and the Thing were not scum, villains impersonating them were scum.

More importantly, we were informed of the nature of the enemy as shapeshifters from the outset so we would know that just because someone claims to be a hero, without counter-claim, does not mean they actually are that hero.

So I must dismiss your example here.



I'm not familiar with most of the characters in the game, but I do recall calling out Death Note's Light Yagami as evil (and scum) from the first faint scent of him, and being correct. Most of the others are recognise seem to fit expectations. (Serial Killer Rei was not obvious to me, but it Neon Genesis Evangelion, so who knows.)

Actually, I have to disagree with you, because as in the Marvel Comics one, you explained your methodology for assigning roles from the outset, and therefore we knew not to expect alignment to necessarily coincide with roles. And I bring this up because my understanding was that you knew from the start that your setup would violate expectations. Again, this reinforces the notion that we should be able to trust the alignment of characters from the lore.



That was the game where I made everyone a cop or cop-related role? Yeah, that had nothing to do with setting.
