Unfortunately, as she pushes past the cook and her aides, you catch the attention of the perceptive woman. Clearly, she does not recognise the Illianer as one of her maids, and Xanthe suspects she may well know that nobody was supposed to be in the kitchen in the first place.
"Where are you going with that, girl?" she calls out in a low voice. Caught in a panic, unsure whether to run, to turn around, or to pretend not to have heard, the woman trips over her own feet, sending the jug rolling across the floor. Wine spills out, but fortunately it does not appear to be broken.
"Catch that, Amelia. We can't waste that much of our good wine, yes?" As one of the serving maids hurries off to retrieve the clay container before too much of its contents are lost, the cook and a number of maids surround Xanthe, Master Jaemin hurrying up to join them. Some of the Amadician soldiers look her way disapprovingly, and Sammil has stopped performing near one of the hearths. But nobody intervenes as the cook seems to have things well in hand. "Bring her out back, girls. She doesn't look half so poor as to need to steal wine, but some drunks are beyond reason. We'll give her a good switching to remind her not to come filching in our kitchen, yes?" And with that, the women, dragging Xanthe along, disappear back in the kitchen.
As a sputtering Master Jaemin reassures his guests that this is all a most unusual occurrence, and would the good gleeman please continue with his story, and please forgive the interruption, Amelia, with some effort, carries the wine to Maravin, shyly confirming whether it was indeed his order?
Xanthe succeeds at a Herbalism Skill check (16+7=23).
